All of the Linux/Apache combinations are free. Well, some of them you can buy - but it's easier to go to http://distrowatch.com/dwres.php?resource=major, close your eyes and click on a distro. EDIT: I should have scrolled down at distrowatch then I'd have seen the section on "Top 5 Beginner-Friendly Distributions"...

Most distros come with a working version of Apache that you just have to configure, but since you've done that under windows it won't be too hard.

I use Slackware because it suits my needs, but if you're looking for advice on distros generally, then expect a lot of debate... Fedora and Ubuntu distros families have reputations for being easy to manage via a GUI and easy for people to just start using.

Gentoo/Slackware type distros are more for build/customise your own type scenarios...

What other needs do you have and what is your situation (GUI, command line, etc.)?
