you are aware that 0.99 was only a small bug fix that effected only a few people

now that you are not using the default

you will need to manually remove a "#" from two files for the program to work

run as root " freshclam "

the error that produces will tell you what file to edit

then

as root run "clamscan"
and that will ALSO error and inform you as to what file to edit

or

read the documentation

John VV,
Where and which files need to be edited?
Running
Code:
freshclam
doesn't show which file is getting updated.
And running
Code:
clamav -r /
only reports the results of the scan.

If the update is only a minor change, I may scrap this until the next major update.

seems a lot simpler than going through dependency hell while trying to install from downloaded source files and using build-essentials and chkpkg to install. I would think?

But if you want to go external.

http://www.eset.com/int/support/sysrescue/

It's not command line. But makes a nice wrench to keep in the cd rack/toolbox

My guess is it's a dependency issue. Without a readout of what's missing, I'm not sure where to direct you that (that wouldn't possibly result in packages getting broken.) Please see here.

I would just download version 0.98.7 from Debian's repositories and use that until Debian releases 0.99 for Wheezy.

Regards...

just a thought...
iirc updating the virus database has to be made with superuser privileges.
maybe even the scan itself.

the two files are listed in the install instructions

/usr/etc/clamd.conf
/usr/etc/freshclam.conf
