Anti-virus software on Linux scanning for Windows viruses?
I sometimes do computer work on the side when I need some extra cash. Most times that consists of virus removal. Is there any AV software for Linux available in the repos? If there is, what's the best? I really couldn't care for downloading some random AV software on Windows to boot into safe mode and try to get rid of all of the viruses.
It'd be nice to hook up their hard drive to my laptop via USB enclosure and scan it for viruses and quarantine them. Thanks in advance. |
What about ClamAV? That's the only one I've ever heard of for Linux.

To run resident in linux clamav is probably the best option. To scan on-line which I think it's your only purpose, you can use avast! which is available for linux and is completely free to use (not open source, though).
http://www.avast.com/eng/avast-for-l...rkstation.html It's only for home use though. So I am not completely sure if the license allow you to use it for your occasional jobs. |
