Answerphone and fax functions
:newbie:
Hi The killer app I need to switch to Linux for good, and forget about dual-booting is an answerphone and fax program. I'm currently using Redhat 8.0, and my modem is a pci Winmodem: it's a Conexant RH56D/SP-PCI R6795-11. I only require basic functions such as the software to answer all calls, play a recorded greeting to voice calls and take message, or if fax, receive fax, and send fax capability. Anyone got any ideas? Thanks patslap |
Welcome to LQ.
First thing first, you should make sure that your modem works under Linux. There's a reason that it's called a WINmodem. Once that's sorted, you could check out sourceforge.net and look for vgetty. VGetty is a server(let) program that receives audio info from your modem. There are a number of frontends (gui or otherwise), so have a quick look. Good luck. |
