Another Xwindows Problem
Hi,
Well I have an Xwindows problem to. I can get it to work with RedHat 7.1 with my computer. But when I try to, including installing Redhat 6.2 besides text mode, start any sort of X session it fails. And it just dies when it fails. So I tried to install 7.1 copy the XF86Config file to a floppy and then unistall 7.1 and reinstall 6.2 and then use that XF86Config file and it still doesnt work. Can anyone suggest any help? Is it a Video Card problem or a monitor problem? The Xconfigurator finds my video card, ATI-RAGE 128 Pro, but it cannot find a monitor type. Thanks in advance for your help! Mike |
Well 6.2 has a older version of xfree86 most likely that doesn't support your card. I believe if you want 6.2 on your machine, your going to have to install the later version of xfree86, either from their site or you can most likely get it off your 7.1 cd's.
