Another GE crash problem

OK, I'm officially fed up with this. Crash report:
Code:
Major Version 7
Minor Version 0
Build Number 0001
Build Date Oct 29 2012
Build Time 19:13:39
OS Type 3
OS Major Version 3
OS Minor Version 2
OS Build Version 29
OS Patch Version 0
Crash Signal 11
Crash Time 1353606278
Up Time 0.062239

Stacktrace from glibc:
./libgoogleearth_free.so(+0x1e9cfb)[0xf7559cfb]
./libgoogleearth_free.so(+0x1e9f43)[0xf7559f43]
linux-gate.so.1(__kernel_sigreturn+0x0)[0xffffe400]
/usr/lib/libexpat.so.1(+0x2c7e)[0xf3abbc7e]
/usr/lib/libexpat.so.1(+0x2cb0)[0xf3abbcb0]
/usr/lib/libexpat.so.1(+0x55bb)[0xf3abe5bb]
/usr/lib/libexpat.so.1(+0x850d)[0xf3ac150d]
/usr/lib/libexpat.so.1(+0x96e1)[0xf3ac26e1]
I'm on Slackware64-14.0 & OSS radeon drivers. Bad smell every time I try to start GE-7.0.

Things I have done after googling are
* make some symlink ld-lsb.so which slackware doesn't bother with
* install a 32 bit libsqlite3.so because google's 64 bit package has 32 bit binaries. These got past 'ge not found' errors. Now I have the above barfage after <2 seconds. I see nothing - no splash screen, etc.

Also tried the wheeze of copying in libGL.so.1 but to no avail.
