I have reinstalled Linux (Debian Sarge) and I were surprised that I can't install fglrx as I usually did. Before reinstallation I had kernel 2.6.3, and fglrx 3.7.0 and everything was ok (both 2d and 3d modes). Right now I have kernel 2.6.6 and fglrx 3.9.0, I do everything like before and I get this error during # ./make_install.sh:
- creating symlink
- recreating module dependency list
- trying a sample load of the kernel module
FATAL: Error inserting fglrx (/lib/modules/2.6.6-1-386/kernel/drivers/char/drm/fglrx.ko): Invalid module format
failed.
When I tried with modprobe I got the same message. I tried compiling this module with gcc 2.95, 3.2 and 3.3 and I always see this error
I were always installing fglrx without compiling kernel - my normal installing procedure:
- unpack kernel source to /usr/src/linux (in Debian I have to merge few packages to have everything that fglrx needs)
- install the fglrx_x.x.x-x.x.x.deb (alien --to-deb fglrx-x.x.x-x.x.x.rpm first of course)
- and then
# cd /lib/modules/fglrx/build_mod
# ./make.sh
# cd ..
# ./make_install.sh
# fglrxconfig
- then I were just configure the driver and everything was ok
Any suggestions, what I can do or what's wrong?
