annoying cron job on find, how to get rid of it

every day when i boot my computer (suse 9.2) there will be this find job by user "nobody" running in the background for a good 15 minutes, which slows down everything else. I could manually killed but then I have to do this almost every day. It's gotta be a cron job and when I went into /etc/cron.daily, everything in there is a script written by suse, did a " grep find *" and found several things but all seems to be hard to edit out since it's supplied as conditions for the logical statement. How can I get rid of this annoying problem? It jus seems like find is indexing something, possibly the man pages, there is gotta be a way to get rid of that. Let me know your thoughts, thanks.

I think that the job in question is /etc/cron.daily/updatedb which updates the locate database. I'm not quite sure how this is run on boot, though; I don't see how it could be a cron job because cron jobs run at specific times.
