animated gifs in digikam ?

Hello all.

I would like to know if there is a plug-in or somthing that gives digikam the ability to show animated gifs as I have a folder with quite a few of them. I know that digikam uses showfoto as its default viewer and although it has the ability to show gifs they are not animated when viewing. I know that I can use Konqueror, Gwenview, etc.. but my question is about digikam specifically. Thanks!

I also looked around and googled for it but did not find anything ether so I thought I would throw the question out there just in case somebody might know something about it. It appears that showfoto does not have a plug-in or the ability to view animated giffs.
