an xterm that changes bkg transparency with mouse wheel?

I run my terminal program with a solid black (non-transparent) background. I'm not into distracting wallpapers or background photos.

There are times when I need to monitor programs in windows behind the one I'm working in, but I can't see them. I usually have to tab through the different windows or move the xterm window with the mouse until I see the window I need, then go back.

It sure would be nice to be able to use the mouse wheel to temporarily increase the transparency of my xterm window so that I could see what's behind it for a few seconds.

Is there a terminal program out there that allows you to change the transparency of the current window with the mouse wheel?

If you're using Compiz, enable the 'Opacity, Brightness and Saturation' plugin. By default, alt-mouse up/down will then change the opacity of the selected window.

Thumbs up Thanks!

Wow! That Compiz tip works well -- and on ALL windows! Exactly what I was after!

Thanks!
