aMule and Low ID

aMule works for me, but it's really slow. It's seems to be because of a "low ID," but I have no idea how to correct it. Yes, I'm using a router (D-Link DI-614+) but am clueless when it comes to configuring "ports" and "firewalls" and all that stuff. Can anyone walk me through this?
