Amarok over a network = crash

I keep my library of mp3 files on a dedicated drive in a server in an obscure corner of my house so that they are available to all computers.

Under XP (which I am trying to graduate myself away from and into SUSE) the Windows Media Player can stream the files over the network just fine.

When I try to open an mp3 file over the network with Amarok (v.1.3.8) under SUSE 10.0 it automatically opens my email client and generates an email for me to send to the developers with crash info in it for them.

I thought maybe I could just switch to Kaffeine instead, but it flat out refuses to even try to open a file over the network.

Is there a fix for Amarok? Maybe another version? Or should I try another player altogether?

TIA

J

How are you accessing the files over the network?
I would have thought that mounting the mp3 directory using nfs, so that although the files are on your server they appear to be local would give you trouble-free access
