Amarok keeps crashing on Ubuntu
I installed Amarok 1.4 (Fast-forward) yesterday through Synaptic. Unfortunately, when I try to play MP3 files (i.e. double-click on them or try to drag them to the playlist), the program always freezes, or sends a message telling me that MP3 playback isn't supported. I would click on the button that says "Install MP3 Support Now", but it always freezes before I can get to it. Help topics on the web have been confusing, so what do I need to do/get? Do I need to upgrade my version? (I'm running Amarok on a GNOME desktop)

You just don't have the codecs for mp3's is all. You need to uncomment the universe and multiverse repositories in /etc/apt/sources.list. Here is some kubuntu documentation that should work fine for ubuntu.

Thank you! Sorry I've taken awhile to reply, but anyway, I got all the plugins from the link, but I also had to install libxine1-ffmpeg, just so you know. :)
