Amarok 1.4 Beta2 with the Xine engine

I am using Amarok Audio player in Gnome. I have a dual boot setup and have the majority of my music on the NTFS (WIN XP) partition. I love Amarok, however, i am unable to play WMA's. I've been using the Gstreamer Engine and trued downloading the "ugly-plugins" from yum to get WMA support, it was unsuccessful.

So... I heard you can use the Xine engine in Amarok, but i can't figure out how to set it up. I have xine on my comp, it works and it plays WMA's just fine.... but it won't show up in the Amarok configuration options.

I'm running Amarok 1.4 Beta2 under FC 5

All the other threads seem to pertain to version 1.3

Thanks in Advance...

The version numbers of the programs are pretty close, so I'm sure that if you apply what you see for 1.3, it won't be so far off for 1.4. Haven't used Amarok, so I can't say for certain, but a goodly portion of software between revisions work basically the same way.

For wma, it's best to use the w32-codecs pack. They can be found at the mplayer website. For xine, you can try intalling a package called amarok-xine.

The solution for the 1.3 version appears to have been the amarok-xine package ceros mentioned

I can't find it for any Fedora distributions, let alone Fedora 5

(which is what i am using)

Maybe i am wrong though. Anyone have any other ideas cause i'm kinda stumped.

Does anyone know how to get the Gstreamer Engine to play WMA's? Maybe that is a better approach considering that it is what is currently working with it.
