altzone equivalent in Linux ?

Hi,

I am using tzset() in my Solaris application and it provides me with 3 variable "daylight", "timezone" and "altzone" . Based on the value of "daylight", I can choose to use "timezone" or "altzone" as that gives the correct time w.r.t. UTC.

How do I do something similar on Linux ? As per the tzset manpage, there is no "altzone" variable, and "daylight" does not mean that DST is on right now or not either.

Thoughts ?

Thanks
Sangeeta
