Alternatives to mainstream computer art applications

I know that there is Gimp, Ink (space?), and another program that can be used to teach the same concepts as Photoshop, Illustrator, and InDesign. Are there any other applications (other than Audacity) that do the same thing on Linux?

What about a substitute for Dreamweaver? Flash? After Effects? Are there any other audio programs? anything similar to Combustion, Fireworks, Sound Booth?

I am eager to get started on this; I am interested in bringing Linux into the educational setting for computer art. Any info appreciated!

You can find a table of linux equivalent software at http://www.libervis.com/wiki/index.p...alent_Software. This may not cover all the applications for which you are seeking an alternative, but it's a start. Ubuntustudio has a lot of applications for multimedia production.
