Hi, thanks for the response - I've been off on another project for quite awhile and hadn't had a chance to get back to this one. Part of the problem was that the DSL modem on the system in question had hiccupped, so I couldn't ssh to it for followup... anyway, thanks again.
This is a PartnerTech 5500, and it's definitely a VIA board, with all interfaces on the board... I'm not at my office, so I can't look at the doc for the specific video chipset - it's pretty involved, as it runs both the integral flatpanel and an external VGA, and it's also got a touchscreen, and the vendor's Linux drivers are only for XFree86, definitely don't work with Xorg. We really wanted to use SuSE on this, but the 9.2 is Xorg, and we couldn't get the ts working. RH9 is XFree86, and the ts driver worked, but the problem with terminal-to-graphics-back-to-terminal reared its head. They said they used SuSE 9.1, but I haven't been able to get 9.1 to install properly.
I'll see what I can find for the drivers you mention, noth for RH 9 and SuSE 9.1.
