Alternative to TeX/Latex/Xetex...?

Hello,

The syntax of latex is not easy.

For making PDF documents, would you know a possible Alternative to TeX/Latex/Xetex..., which would be of similar principle but much different in the coding language ?

Coding language i.e. function, since it's use and functions of latex might be complex for everyone.
