It depends on your hardware and OS configuration (as I suggested earlier). We can't offer advice without more information.

I'm not sure I understand your question. Isn't the output of these presentation programs a .pdf file? Both Libreoffice and Beamer can create .pdf files (playable on any platform). I have never used MSOffice so excuse my ignorance but why wouldn't the "professors" simply create pdf files? Why would they use .ppt(x)?
