rox file manager will draw the desktop with wallpaper & icons...

install rox and run as:

rox --pinboard=PIN

then use the rox file manager to drag & drop your executables from /usr/bin to your desktop and rightclick on them to give them icons, also to add/change wallpaper just rightclick on the desktop and drag & drop your desired wallpaper...

I tried rox, and it has a wallpaper. (it exists as rox, xfce, nautilus, kdesktop).

fbdesk and idesk dont, and use Esetroot (eg).
