Alternative for MSSQL

Anyone know a good linux alternative for microsofts sql server? I'm trying to port a large database program to linux and don't want to have to edit my stored procedures too much to make it work.

How about MySQL (www.mysql.com)? It is included in a lot of distros and is available for many platforms. I don't know how much it differs from MSSQL, though.

Thanks I was thinking about MySql as they have recently added support for stored procedures. Postgresql is looking good too.

mysql is very good for speed though I don't know if it has enough functions to do what you want, though postgresql isn't as fast but has many more functions so is more likely to be able to do what you want
