ALT doesn't work in some window managers

I tried Waimea and Fluxbox and everything works fine, but the ALT key. I can switch windows with it - ok, but when I run bitchx in a xvrt and try to change its windows via the ALT+number key it only prints strange characters. It works fine in KDE, though. I think there is something disturbing it in the xorg.conf.. can it be ?

That stuff goes out when I write in rxvt. What is due to.. should be this a terminal fault, a window manager fault or xorg fault? Give me some idea..
