alsa speaker-test

Hello I try to get alsa working and when I type the speaker-test I get that

Quote:
speaker-test 1.1.0

Playback device is default
Stream parameters are 48000Hz, S16_LE, 2 channels
Using 16 octaves of pink noise
ALSA lib pcm_dmix.c:1029:(snd_pcm_dmix_open) unable to open slave
Playback open error: -2,No such file or directory
I don't know if it's something I did wrong and pulseaudio work. Only alsa is not working.

Please provide more information.

Have you tried testing an audio file? If so, what happens. What leads you to state that Pulse works, whereas ALSA doesn't?

Is this on Arch or on some other distro. If so, what distro/version and what soundcard do you have?
