ALSA(mixer) how to delete usermade softvol controls?

I am currently running gentoo and I have ASUS A7N8X-XE mobo.
I am running alsa-drivers and I did some experimenting with /etc/asound.conf

I tried something I saw somewhere and the experiment resulted in two new controls in alsamixer (for that matter in KMix too).

I later removed the /etc/asound.conf and restarted alsasound etc. - the irritating part is that these two new controls stayed no matter what I did. I tried uninstalling and reinstalling alsa-utils but the problem is that they are probably somewhere and I have no idea where.

Before I go on with my experimenting I'd like to know what files are affected so that I don't end up filling the mixer with dud softvol controls...anyone? I also tried deleting /etc/asound.state - no cigar, can't say I was even close...
