ALSA loopback Application problem

I am trying to capture and playout audio using ALSA.
1)I have a standalone test application for capturing data.I am able to
capture pcm data to a file. That is capture and write to a file.
2)I have a standalone test application for playing out the captured
data.I am able to play out data from a file properly. That is i am
reading from a file and playing the audio.

Problem:
When i capture the data to a buffer and playout the data from the same buffer i am getting the errror "Broken pipe" for the playout.

Any idea why this may be happening?

Regards,
santosh
