I am not exactly sure what the problem is, but one thing I know for sure - It's a *bad* idea to name your files and directories with a whitespace in the middle.
Try using only alphanumeric characters and replace each whitespace with '-' or '_'.
I know most Linux filesystems know how to handle most characters, but some programs have trouble with them.

First, How do you try to change the volume. what software do you use? Try another if you haven't already...
Second, if you are using KDE, try:
In "KDE Control Center" "Sound & Multimedia"->"Sound System" go to the Hardware tab and make sure you have all the right settings.

Also, about my first reply, I just thought that the "alsa driver" is a directory and that make is trying to find the target "driver/alsa-driver-1.0.15/Rules.make" when it actually needs to search for a target called "alsa driver/alsa-driver-1.0.15/Rules.make". I don't know if make can do that.

"Sound & video"?? I'll assume you meant "Sound & Multimedia".

I'm pretty sure there must be a Sound System configuration option.

And sorry, but you completely lost me with the last sentence. What do have?
