Algebra and family tree software?

I am looking for a decent free gui algebra program for Linux, specifically Slack 10. I have Mathomatic, but it is cli only and I want gui so as to make life easier learning algebra.
Second, are there any really good free family tree making software for linux? I use Legacy in windowz, but don't know of any similar linux products.
