ALERT! /dev/sda5 does not exist!

Hello,

I'm running Linux Mint 6.

I got a sorta stupid idea today and decided to try and change my sources.lst, changing all ubuntu intrepid sources to jaunty and after that I updated all packages. When I now boot the machine it goes in to busybox with the message ALERT! /dev/sda5 does not exist. I've been searching the net to try and find a solution but so far I haven't been able to do so. The solutions include either using an editor or the make oldconfig/make menuconfig commands which all return bash: command not found.

I'm not able to connect to the internet from busybox since I only have a mobile broadband connection with an USB dongle, which prevents me from downloading and upgrading busybox.

Is a reinstall my only option?

All help is very much appreciated.

You're going to need a live CD to fix it.
You will need to mount the device as read-write.

Got one.

I added scsi_mod, sd_mod, libata, sata_via to my /etc/initramfs-tools/modules and updated it (update-initramfs -u) but still no luck.

Should anyone find this thread looking for a solution to a similar problem (or any other that would bump them in to busybox), I ended up with reinstalling my whole system.
