Alarms and MIB in SUSE

Hi all,

does anyone know how to look at the alarms and MIBs that are generated in SUSE?

any documentation about alarms and MIBs?

Thanks

Your question is very vague.

What "alarms" are you referring to? Do you mean SNMP alerts, which are related to what MIB's are loaded?? What are you trying to do? What version of SuSE are you using?

Out of the box, the system won't alert on much, and isn't configured to send SNMP traps anywhere...that's part of the system setup you have to do later. Step one is defining WHAT you want to alert on (low disk space? What % free should you send the alert? Global alert, or defined on a per-disk basis?, CPU load? etc....), then set those things up. Step two is defining WHERE to send the alerts. Do you have an SNMP trap receiver now (something like Smarts, Openview, etc.), or do you want to email alerts via a custom program? And what MIBs you need depends on what hardware/software you've got, and what you want to monitor.

Google for "linux snmp". Lots of basic guides to get you going.
