Unhappy AIM install problems

If you haven't guessed already, yes, I am a newbie. I just got Linux yesterday, and while I'm in love with my Mandrake 8.2, it's already making me want to scream.

I'm missing some components, so I've been trying to download them (ex. Java). When I try to install by putting the code in the command line, nothing happens. Other programs have installed just fine, but these rpms are getting me down.

If you want to install AIM just get Gaim it should be in the mandrake installation cd or if you use KDE install Kopete just look for it in and install it. And about you cant install java just go to the java home page and follow their instructions and you'll be fine. If you need any other program just say it or if you need a guide of how to install java just post again and I'll try to help you.
