AIM Email configuration in Kmail

I am using the new aim email. In all other email clients it works except Kmail. I can receive the messages in Kmail, but not send. Everytime I try to send I get this message:

Sending failed:
Authentication failed.
Most likely the password is wrong.
The server responded: "INVALID SCREEN NAME FORMAT/LENGTH"
The message will stay in the 'outbox' folder until you either fix the problem (e.g. a broken address) or remove the message from the 'outbox' folder.
The following transport protocol was used:
AIM

According to the aim website the smtp settings are as follows:

smtp.aim.com port 587 alternative 25

User name is the aim screen name.
Authentication is required.

These settings do work in Thunderbird and Evolution without a problem, but not in Kmail. Has anyone else experienced this and have a solution? I would be so grateful. Thanks.

I love Kmail otherwise.
