again.. kernel panic & no init found problem

Hello. I've got problem with compiling 2.6.10 kernel

it is:

----
VFS: Mounted root (ext3 filesystem) redonly.
Freeing unused kernel memory: 172k freed
Kernel panic - not syncing: No init found. Try passing init= option to kernel.
----

I googled and found a lot of people with this problem, but currently no solutions helped me. I'm using centrino laptop/ide HDD. Compiled ext3, ide modules into kernel. Inital ramdisk is also present. Currently I'm trying to build kernel without external initrd.

I think, I forgot something to compile into kernel. Tryed a lot of options but with no luck. also boot option init=/sbin/init didn't solve.

Whats may be wrong?

Well, did you check:
-If /sbin/init is present in your ramdisk?
-If /sbin/init is executable?
-Is the root-device appropriate in your <<bootloader>>.conf?

Wat happens, if you boot from a cd, mount your HD and run
#/sbin/init 1
?
Any error messages?

Any strange things in your logs (/var/log/messages or so)?

Why BTW are you using a initrd?

I once tried also, and got the same message, and after giving up using a initrd, it worked fine (but I wasn't able to make root-crypto-disk).
