You are probably trying to start mplayer instead of gmplayer.

I've scanned over your pervious posts. If I understand correctly, you compiled mplayer yourself. Did you use the --enable-gui option during the ./configure step??
Without it gmplayer is not installed and you 'only' get mplayer (default, command line version).

If you do have gmplayer installed, check if the kMenu link points to gmplayer and not to mplayer.

Hope this get you going again.

hey, i compiled from src also. i believe i did have gui enabled. i know i installed gmplayer. but, when i go to run gmplayer, a small error box popups and goes away imediatly. also, for some stupid reason, when i dbl click on my home folder or trash folder on my desktop, it does the same as if it's trying to open gmplayer. I'm using RH8. i downloaded quite a few gui skins, like the readme says, and put them in the folders i'm suposed to. is there a config file that i'm supposed to edit to give it a specific skin to start off from? i'm lost.

thnx
jay

Rename one of the skins "default".

ambelos 02-23-2004 02:03 PM

it's already called default.

ambelos 02-23-2004 02:12 PM

ok, nm. its up and running, finaly.

my problem seemed not to be codecs/font, but yes, there needs to be a folder called default in .mplayer/Skins. i don't understand, though, cause i did have a default one there before. this didn't work, so i took it out an placed it in /usr/.../mplayer/Skins/. that didn't seem to work either, so that's when i started my postings. srry for bothering u guys for something so stupid.
