again about mplayer :( plz..

I'm using Redhat 9.0 and my vga card is RivaTNT Vanta 32mb (detected as TNT2 by Linux)
All the file below has been installed and the player can be opened but can't play movie.

[root@VAI mplayer (Movie Player)]# ls
install.txt
mplayer-codecs-extralite-1.0-1.i386.rpm
mplayer-codecs-linux-real-9.0-1.i386.rpm
mplayer-common-1.0pre2-1.i386.rpm
mplayer-gui-1.0pre2-1.i386.rpm
mplayer-skin-default-1.0-2.noarch.rpm
mplayer-skin-gnome-1.1-2.noarch.rpm
mplayer-skin-WindowsMediaPlayer6-1.2-2.noarch.rpm
[root@VAI mplayer (Movie Player)]#

I have tried all the video and audio codec family that listed in the preferences but i just can read this fatal error message : 'Error opening/initializing selected video_out (-vo) device!'.
I have tried to fix this problem since 3 days ago. Any suggestion? Does xmms play movie file? Thank you in advance for ur help.

Have you tried using a different video output option? What is the exact command your using to try and play the movie?

Thanks for replying. What do you mean by 'exact command'? I use menu to open video file then click the play button. How to use different video output? I have tried all codec family that listed in preferences (Codec & Demuxer tab) but still got the same error message. Can you tell me what is the problem Sir Moderator?
