LILO Boot loader only shows LI:

The first stage boot loader was able to load the second stage boot loader, but has failed to execute it. This can either be caused by a geometry mismatch or by moving /boot/boot.b without running the map installer.

(Taken directly from this page )

Sorry I can't help you anymore, I don't know how LILO works (yet ).

AoA,
I used the linux rescue option with F5 key and was able to boot from linux RH9 CD. So just boot from CD and then you have to press F5 and then type "linux rescue" I hope it will solve your problem as well.

remember every time i run lilo in the first line its give message
warning: /dev/sda is not on the first disk
Addesd Redhat-9 *

and with lilo -v
warning: /dev/sda is not on the first disk
mepping with /boot/boot.b
Mapping message file /boot/message
Boot image: /boot/vmlinuz-2.4.20-8
mapping RAM disk /boot/initrd-2.4.20-8.img
Addesd Redhat-9 *
/boot/boot.0800 exists - no backup copy made
Writing boot sector.

if Installation of new lilo version can solve problem i just download latest lilo version that is lilo-22.5.7.2.binary.tar.gz from this site http://lilo.go.dyndns.org/ but i am not updating till urs reply, if u think yes then guied me to update new version.

I think this is a common problem with lilo.I just did a google with lilo+LI and got the following links

-------------------------

http://home.att.net/~lilo-boot/lilohome.htm
http://www.linuxgazette.com/issue65/tag/4.html

http://www.google.com/search?q=lilo%...id=opera&num=0

http://www.tldp.org/HOWTO/LILO-7.html

----------------------------

hope this helps.

Had that problem couple of years ago on a Pentium2/400 machine.
I think running:

lilo -l

solved the problem.
