afs on red hat 9 wont startup

Hello,

I am using Red Hat 9.0 and installed a bunch of afs rpm's:

openafs-1.2.10-rh9.0.1.i386.rpm
openafs-1.2.10-rh9.0.1.src.rpm
openafs-client-1.2.10-rh9.0.1.i386.rpm
openafs-compat-1.2.10-rh9.0.1.i386.rpm
openafs-debuginfo-1.2.10-rh9.0.1.i386.rpm
openafs-devel-1.2.10-rh9.0.1.i386.rpm
openafs-kernel-1.2.10-rh9.0.1.i386.rpm
openafs-kernel-source-1.2.10-rh9.0.1.i386.rpm
openafs-kpasswd-1.2.10-rh9.0.1.i386.rpm
openafs-server-1.2.10-rh9.0.1.i386.rpm
openafs-krb5-1.2.10-rh9.0.1.i386.rpm

I put in /usr/vice/etc/ThisCell:

slac.stanford.edu

Now when I do (as root) '/sbin/service afs start' I get:

Found libafs-2.4.20-19.9-i686.o from SymTable... Loading...
Starting AFS services.....
afsd: All AFS daemons started.

Then nothing happens and eventually I kill this job. Any ideas on where I am going wrong?

Thanks,

Mark.
