Advice on accounting packages (gnucash??)

Hello,
I need an accounting package, and have been trying to use gnucash. However, I have not been able to find much documentation, and even the www.gnucash.org site is unavailable. Does anyone know if this project is being abandoned? I am hesitant to learn a package that may not be supported in the future.
If anyone can point me to some good documentation, or suggest an alternative to run on Linux, I would be grateful. I'm sure there are others who need good accounting software to run on Linux.

It's probably just a temporary server problem. According to Google's cache of gnucash.org, they had two releases just last month, so I wouldn't worry too much about it being abandoned.
