Adobe Flash 'fpdownload' trouble

I'm running Ubuntu latest version. I downloaded Adobe Flash 7 for linux from the adobe website. I followed their instructions for downloading and installing. Flash starts now when I need it, but stagnates on the opening window. The bottom of the window reads, "waiting for fpdownload.macromedia.com..."

Adobe Flash website is nothing more than a myriad of useless help.

I'm hoping someone here has done been through this and can advise or help.

I am not alone...

I found this site:

Hi all,

The last couple of weeks I have noticed a big increase in the number of
users complaining that they can't get Shockwave to work.

Initial investigating seem to indicate that the domain
fpdownload.macromedia.com could be the cause, since Shockwave wants to grab
files from it (e.g:
http://fpdownload.macromedia.com/get.../MacroMix.carb) and
now the domain doesn't work properly for many users, causing Shockwave to
grind to a halt.

Some users have no problems connecting, but others can't reach the server.
The dns records are a bit of a mess, and I suspect this could have something
to do with the Macromedia -> Adobe migration

Anyone else seeing this? Any Macromedians in the know?

TIA,

Robert Wahlstedt
