Additional Linux software...

Hi...
I know TES software is based on Linux operating system so my question is: can I install additional Linux software to TES? If yes, should I compile it from sources or it is possible to install rpm/deb/emerge packages like in RedHat/Fedora/Centos/Debian/Gentoo? Thanks!

Please tell us what exactly "TES software" is.

Google seems to show several possibilities--none of which sound like an OS:
