adding local printer on gentoo

Hi there
I've just installed cups and i followed the gentoo printing guide to add the right options in my kernel config(for my USB Epson stylus Photo r285 printer). So now i need to add my printer as the default printer for my box right?.Well for starters i don't know which address to put for the device URI.So i just put http://lhostname:631/ipp/.I have no problem adding what make of printer obviously ,but then after i've selected my printer a box comes up for me to type in a username and password. So i try my username and password and the user root and roots password...but these don't work.Hence i'm stuck.Any help would be great.Thankx in advance
