Adding Fints

Hey Folks,

Just too newb for my own good... trying to add downloaded fonts to GIMP, and I read you can add them to the general font folder so they can be access by all programs, but I'm not familiar with the filesystem of linux yet. Where is the fonts folder?

It's /usr/share/fonts.

The command
Code:
find /usr -name fonts
will answer your question.

On my system the generic fonts directory this is:
Code:
/usr/share/X11/fonts
/usr/share/fonts
and the /usr/share/fonts is the main one.

There are a lot of other locations but they are mostly app specific.

For user-added fonts it's better to put them in /home/littlekatana/.local/share/fonts/ instead, for all programs.
For GIMP only you can also use /home/littlekatana/.config/GIMP/*/fonts/

You will need to log out/in for changes to take effect.

* replace with your GIMP version - usually 2.10
