Adding and saving to a routing table

Am new to linux and I have one install for me by somebody which I use on my network, I want to add a routing table to it I have issue the command "route add -net 216.129.164.160/28 dev eth2" if I check the routing table by using the command "netstat -rn" I will see it added to the routing table wen I reboot it will be lost though there is a routing on that interface b4 i thought i could add to it by using d command "route add -net 216.129.164.160/28 dev eth2" why is it not working pls kindly assist

Which distro is the machine running? It's important as the place where the routing table settings are written to is distribution-dependent.
