Adding a program to a certain run-level

Hi,

I want to add a program to a certain run-level in Linux, but I am unsure how to go about it. Do I simply add a softlink to the rc#.d directory? Also, does the machine need to be restarted?

Thanks.

M.

Then you can easily use YaST: System->Runlevel-Editor

Okay, thanks, I will try that. Before I mess with the machine, will the machine need to be restarted?

Thanks.

Probably not. You can usually start/stop/query a service ("network", say) as root using "rcnetwork restart/stop/status" from the console, and YaST will do that automatically after you made any changes.
