Hi, all. Having a couple of problems here and hoping for any suggestions you might have.

First, after a reboot the permissions ALWAYS change for my /var/spool/cups directory on my Samba box. I need them to be 1777 so I can print from my home LAN. I can't figure out where to put a command to run on startup to change the permissions and I can't figure out how to change the permissions permanently.

Secondly, I can't seem to install the same printer in OpenOffice. I can browse to the directory where my .ppd file is but that's it. I try to continue the install but OpenOffice insists it's just a "Generic Printer" What am I missing to install a Samba/CUPS networked printer in OpenOffice?

Third, how do I install a printer in Mozilla running on Linux?

I am still Googling but I would appreciate some suggestions or ideas.

The above questions can't be that basic, can they? I can't find anything on Google. Doesn't anyone here print from Mozilla?

To add a command to your start up, edit the file for your runlevel in /etc/rc.d (this may be /etc/init.d instead, I don't know on your system).

I don't know how to answer the other two questions.

I haven't figured out the way to run it from /etc/ini.d but since it's a Debian box I don't think I can run it from /etc/rc.d. Surely there's a way to change the permissions so they won't revert upon reboot?

If they revert on boot, something that runs at boot is changing them back. Either find that and disable it or add something else in your boot process to change the permissions back.
