add/remove packages via FTP

G'day All,

I have a RedHat 8 install on a machine with no CD-rom. I installed RedHat via FTP. I would like to use the add/remove function (GUI)in RedHat to easily add/remove packages I require. However when the packages are ready to be installed the source media type is a CD with no other options, on old systems I have you had to specify the source media location (ie. mount the media).

Is it possible to changee the source media location from CD to FTP in RedHat? or will I just have to take the manual route?

Gavin.

i'd recommend that you use the installation > upgrade option instead. start up your machine via the installation media that youo used and select the FTP type of installation. Then select 'Upgrade' andmanually select the packages you want to add.

not sure how to do it with the GUI tool (u might need to hack ur way thru it) to make it use an FTP location. I've only tried with with an ISO image.

hth.
