Add images horizontally with gimp?

I have about 8 images of equal size (300x300). I want to 'concatinate' these horizontally so I have just one image (but 8 times wider). I've tried copying and pasting, but its hard to get the positions exact.

Anybody know how to do this?

Thanks in advance,

unholy

resize the canvas for each image to 8X the width, but change the X offset for each one in incements of 300, coordinating that with wherever the image belongs in the sequence. for example:

tile 1: 2400X300, x offset 0
tile 2: 2400X300, xoffset 300
tile3: 2400X300, x offset 600

etc.

The white space created in the enlarged canvas will have to be removed (made transparent) before merging layers.

Of course if it were me, I'd just resize canvas once, then paste the other tiles in as a new layer, move into place (zoom in to get it exact), then merge. Voila!

Thanks superbondbond. I've actually found a tool that does it for you.

Right click and go into

Filters / Combine / Film...

Turn off the numbers, and set all spacing etc to zero. Then add the images!

Thanks again,

That's cool. One of those tools that I would use once in a blue moon, but very useful when the opportunity comes along.
