acx100 and Vector Linux???

Has anyone gotten the acx100_pci driver (sourceforge) to work with Vector linux 4.0 SOHO?

I have tried an older version and the newest version with no luck. I install everything, but when I go to load the driver nothing happens. If I do insmod acx100_pci I get a message saying no device found.

Could this be due to the kernel not being compiled with the proper wireless settings??? If so how do I fix it?

I need this driver for linux to be able to access the internet!

Please Help.

Sorry, my mistake...partially.

The driver was not loading, but it did reload after restart.
The driver is not called acx100_pci anymore, it is acx_pci.

Now I'm on to configuring the card, unfortunately I can't find the wireless-tools package for Vector Linux, which contains iwconfig.

I just installed acx100 yesterday in order to try out a friend's wireless AP. I don't use the card often but I got the latest drivers from CVS and I'm very impressed with the progress - no more messing with custom scripts to get it going, and so on.

Anyway, I shouldn't go on about my experiences but rather post what I intended to: You can download the wireless-tools package as source and build it. It shouldn't be a problem if you have managed to build the driver itself.

Good luck!

Thanks, I realized I could use most of Slackwares packages including the wireless tools package late last night...unfortunately I still have problems...now, when I run iwconfig, it works great, except for the fact that it does not display the MAC address for the router, which means it won't work.

Everything seems right except for that. Is this maybe due to kernel compile options?

Again, does anyone with experience with Vector Linux or similar slimmed down linux distros have any info?

Thanks

PS

I have a lot of experience with the driver but in fedora and red hat...where it runs no prob.
