Active log monitoring

Hi all,

I'm looking for a program that will monitor a log file in real time and allow me to run a script based on specific entries. I've already looked into Swatch, but apparently the "threshold" feature does not function on Fedora. Does anyone know of a similar program I can try out or have a work around for the broken threshold feature in Swatch?

Thanks in advance.

If you just need an example, sshblack is a perl script that can monitor a log file for specific strings. I'm guessing you'd have to modify this, but it is an example of how to do it in perl.

And welcome to LQ!
