Smile Active Directory Integration

Hi Folks

I am a newbie to Linux and have been googling the answer to my question to no real avail then I came across your site! :-)

We have a Windows Server 2003 Domain running Active Directory. I have built a couple of RHEL 5.3 Servers and would like to know how to integrate these into Active Directory so our IT users can log on using their normal accounts?

Many thanks

Hello and Welcome to LinuxQuestions,

I Googled for 'Integrating Linux in Active Directory' and in 0,43 seconds got over a million hits. This is the first one Linux, AD, and Windows 2003, and a pretty good one to explain what you need to perform this task.

With LDAP you can 'port' authentication to a Windows 2003 domain without a problem. I have it setup here for numerous webapplications running on Debian and all users authenticate through LDAP on the Active Directory domain. Works like a charm.

Kind regards,

Eric

Hi Eric

Thanks for the prompt reply. Yeh, there are quite a lot of articles out there but the problem I was having was finding one that explained in simple terms how it is achieved.

If anyone has a guide they have created or knows of a good site please let me know.

Thanks again.

That's indeed an easy to follow step by step guide, using the graphical interface. I don't have GUI's installed on our Debian servers tough .

Kind regards,

Eric
