Active Desktop Calendar altrernative?

I am a person who forgets everything except eating. I have been working on Linux mainly but I have a dual boot system with Windows XP (the software Aspen is not available for Linux )

I have been searching for a software, something like Active Desktop Manager, which effectively modifies the desktop with the tasks I note down, for Linux. In this manner, I can see my Desktop all the time, and remember my important works.

I tried KNotes but it is really a program that is yellow

I want to inquire is there any software which can modify the wallpaper like the software I mentioned? The easy is NOT a problem. I just don't want to boot in windows for a long time.
